Regardless of programmes offered, there will be compulsory international foundation Programmes / Courses in Computer Science; English Proficiency; Ethics and Mathematics for all students. The international Foundation Programme is for students who want to develop their academic English and their subject knowledge before beginning a degree. The IFP is a 1 year intensive course that leads to entry to a wide range of the BSc programmes. The Programme is designed not only to be equivalent to or an alternative to A-level of Uganda, but is designed to have an equivalent standard to qualifications studied in year in a UK schools (e.g. A-level).

There are pathways within the programme for students with different subjects of study, for instance Science pathway, Medical pathway, Engineering pathway, ICT pathway and Business pathway.

The programme runs for 34 weeks and is divided into two semesters each 17 weeks long, where the student will have intensive English language teaching and study skills to prepare him/her into the first year of a wide range of University degrees. Students study nine courses (modules) in total, spread over the duration of the programme to provide an even workload. The courses are divided into two groups: Compulsory and Major. Four courses are compulsory: English, Mathematics, Ethics and Creativity and Innovation.

The six Major Academic courses will vary from relevant to the student’s future degree programme. The Major Academic courses will vary from one programme provider to another, but students can expect to study courses/modules in any of the following areas: for example Accounting, Economics, Further mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, International Relation, Politics, Social Psychology, Sociology, etc.

Location

Nile University is located in Arua District in the North West of Uganda 5km from Arua on the Arua – Moyo road on a 32.1 acre piece of land.

The University is open to both male and female students.
